AWCPO Governance Structure
The decision-making bodies of the Afghan Women Coordination and Promotion Organization (AWCPO) are as follows:
- General assembly
- Board of Directors
- Board of Management
General assembly: The General Assembly is responsible for taking organization’s vital and important decisions including electing board of directors, monitoring the progress of vision and mission of organization and deliberating over organizational symbols such as changing the name, logo, flag’s color.
Board of Directors: Board of directors is an elected body, selected by general assembly members and have the following responsibilities.
- Establishing organizational strategy, strategic plan, and policies.
- Recruiting management’s board director, deputy director and finance manager.
- Regular monitoring of management board and organization’s strategic plan implementation.
Board of Management: AWCPO’s management team consists of executive director, deputy director, all departmental managers and participatory decision making is encouraged and applied.
The board of management responsibilities are as follows:
- The Board of management is responsible for applying the organization’s policies, plans, rules, and code of conduct regularly.
- Develop programs, systems, and procedures.
- Fundraising to achieve the organization's objectives.
- Effective communication with donors, community, and government.
- Recruiting staff, training them with organizational policies, principles, and code of conduct.
- Projects implementation and overall operation management.
- Monitoring work plan, financial plan, ongoing activities of different sections.
The executive director is answerable to AWCPO’s Board of Directors and has the responsibility for management of the organization, including:
- All programs, administrative, financial, and human resource activities.
- Coordination with donors.
- Signatory authority for all project agreements and contracts with other agencies.
- Implementation of AWCPO’s policies, rules, regulations, and internal code of conduct.
